Michael Lynch representing Longford Vintage Club, was with the Dublin2Mayo organisers that were in Longford to promote the run, pointed out to me the tractor that will lead the Longford section and into town, is a Field Marshall Tractor that was bought originally in 1948 by Longford County Council, and more recently was was giving in trust to Longford Vintage Club in 2013. Was a refurbishment job, and as you can see it is back to it beautiful best, only couple of specialised work was outsourced, the breaks and some parts of the steering work that was done in Galway, but mostly restored by Longford Vintage Club. Spent most of its days employed by Council in Catron Quarry in Cullyfad County Longford.
You can keep track of the Run Via a live tracker they will have on the day you can find on their Facebook Page, just click on image of their Facebook page below will link you to the tractor run to keep updated on the many various things happening on the day itself
Longford towns Camlin United FC beat Rooskey in quarter final of the ccfl Division 1 cup by 1-0 at home in the MAll complex football pitch
Camlin United FC Won by one goal to nil, deservedly but not without holding out a late surge, and some excellent saves by their goalkeeper Michael Hughes throughout the game. Guided on by Denis Kane and Zak Hackette, they played comfortable in patches and had the best of chances in the game, only denied by oppositions goalkeeper, who after saving one shot couldn't stop the rebound, for the only goal in the game. Even Camlins players would admit wasn't the best day of football, but did enough to win it
A good Sunset in the evening, Shepherd's delight, as I bumped into friendly chap Brendan Duggan, going though Teffia Park Longford Town. Was surprised he was not at home, watching the pool on TV, was just after 8 pm. He told me he had just literally this day retired, 21 years in his last job. In Farnagh, before we parted he said, the pool were 2 up, only 20 mins gone in the game. cursed himself he thought when he checked score, that Southampton were 1 up, to my excitement, but to his delight, pool won 1 - 3, to his obvious delight, happy retirement Brendan Duggan Snr, Hope its all you want and more enjoy well earned.
