I have two little younger sister siblings. In my early years I did move around a bit, but schooled prominently in Ballinamuck National School and first class moved too Tipperary.
Just outside of Nenagh.
Athlone, in Drumramey, till i went too Ballymahon/Glasson, and secondary in Moyne. Recently just finished my Leaver Cert.
Thinking back, the first person that knew I could sing was when I was in Drumramey. Miss Moran, I was lucky , only 15 in my whole school and only 2 in my class at that time.
3rd or 4th class, I went to the National concert hall to sing with 1000 children from all over Ireland from other schools to sing for the president President at the time Mary Mcaleese came to visit. my voice hadn't broken at the time. I always loved music, to sing.
Great Grandfather On mothers side Patsy loved Michael English at the time. Noel Cassidy was a neighbor of ours and grandmother Eilish. listened to him and Mick Flavin. also a fond memory of helping Nan helping great grandmother Bridgie into bed. was a ritual, we would watch videos of Richie Kavanagh, and just as we were helping her to bed, we would, always listen to the same song Robert MIzzell (Say You Love Me).
Clapping along, and eating either favorites Rich tea biscuits or digestives, id have one and she would have one.
reminds me of my great grandfather, with old age and we all get our own various ailments he was no less. and he would have a thing called 'Ensure', a health drink to aid body build up weight.
I would ask, I was only three at the time, I would as 'Can i have your special drink'. as a growing child I didn't need it.
When i was 6 or 7 i heard him asking for Hot Whiskey the odd time. Can i have a hot whiskey id ask him.
unbeknownst to me, he would boil up water and put Cidona into it, to give it that whiskey colour, and give it to me in a shot class, i thought i was an auld man drinking whisky.
Moving on a few years now, I remember my younger sister joined evolution stage school Longford.
run and owned by Paul Hennessy and Tracy Carty, Paul one of the Irish Celtic Tenors no less.
I went along, asking could I see what they did, I enjoyment it and i joined.
I sang various parts for various things, like Glee and Les Miserable and i was giving lead role in Les miserable.
I remember everybody sitting around on floor, and Paul asked, hands up who wants to sing that part, i never put my hand up being honest, and Paul said how about you David, i said why not.
I did take extra private singing lessons with Paul. He gave me great confidence, which was what I really lacked.
Paul has now got the stage evolution school in two other county's also, Carrick On Shannon, Kinnegad, Roscommon. I have a lot to be thankful for, thanks to Paul Hennessy.
Before country music i was singing crooner music, 'Dean Martin rat pack group.
Myself and Paul Hennessey and Conor Mcloughlin, Ryan Baker, actually did a few shows together, highlight of that was Helix in Dublin. Two sell out shows, over two days.
what Paul does is, each stage group has there own shows, put on locally to each county where that stage school is.
but he brought myself and rowan to do shows in each county the stage school was in, and the highlight was the helix. that was back in 2015, celebration 5 years fof the stage school in Longford.
was that year i had started country music, I was wanting to ask a few in the industry about the industry and how to progress within it.
i was at the fair day, when I approached Mick Flavin, i knew him, as he knew my grandfather Patsy Brady.
I asked would there be a chance i could back him up in a show anytime in the future. gave him my number, not thinking anything about it. withing two days he rang me back and said would i be available on such a date to do a show in the back stage, i said yes.
he said himself and the late Noel Cassidy and neighbor were doing a show that Nov.
he actually never heard me saying at that time,
two day later again he rang me again, and said, Frank Kilbride was doing a show, would i would be interest in doing a bit on it.
Off course I said yes. There I was, in the hotel lobby,i met up with frank and his wife Trish, then Foster and Allen walked in, and then TR Dallas, Brendan Grace, Seamus Moore, Ben and Ray Dolan, and Tom power.
It was the most surreal moment of my life, here i was, nobody knew if i could sing or not, and I was sitting and chatting among the countries great. Brendan grace was telling jokes others where singing, and they all shared great story's and had dinner with them all. they asked who I was and I said that, and I was from and that Mick Flavin gave me the nod, they said, if mick said your a good, you must be good.
I got the call, by Franks's wife Trish, put on some make up while Frank was sitting back in the chair with a cigar. He said how are your young man, asked what i was going to sing, and asked my did i want to know the questions before hand, I said no, just fire anyway.
ran through it in one take. in the end i had half of that show, and shared it with tom power the latchico from Wexford.
It wasn't my first time on TV. I was on RTE a few times, three in total. all thanks to Paul Hennessy at evolution stage school. first time was back in 2013, did an audition and got part for RTE show 2tube. I remember the first time I was in RTE, I seen Nathan Carter coming out of the LATE LATE SHOW STAGE, I followed him to his car, probably thought I was a stalker. but he was cool about it. he wasn't as big as he is now at that time, the song the wagon wheel was one of his hits at that time.
I was called back to rte for another show with 2tube, with others group members from Paul Hennessy evolution stage school. this time we were in bord gais theater.
it was the oddest of things. there was a huge stage with huge Game boy pallets chairs everywhere was very stage.
I was looking around and noticed some others in the theater were looking and rehearsing form a script, when someone asked me you know the script, I said I never got one. but wasn't to bad, we had to answer what others had answered for the show. we got through it.
last time I was asked to go up, was around the Fair City stage.
Was great to see the workings of the show.myself and others, we were all in same age group from Stage Evolution School. we got closer to the filming of the show one guy in the show, asked should would be here, I remembered seeing one the lady that was running it, name, and said that to the guy and he said , if shes ok with, just go over there and just be quiet, watch in quietness.
one of the shows I did was aired regularly, we tough only the once, but was show for a period for two weeks in between Simpsons and home and away. which was remarked to me at school and else where numerous time.
I actually had a couple of shows, on in backstage with evolution stage school, where I was on stage with Amy Rose Flavin, grand daughter of Mick Flavin, that's where he seen me singing first.
That was before the show, I was doing with Mick and Noel Cassidy at the back stage.
asked me what songs I was doing, I said a variety. My grandfather was in the audience, and was after that I decided to go for it. My grandfather 'Patsy Brady' is my manager. got me my first singing pub job, in Eamonn Farrell's, Town and Country . I bought a system, and backing tracks for single person singing.
Now I am getting 2/3 shows per week. I released a song awhile back, with the great help of Charlie McGettigan, and video done by Paul Hennessy, 'Travelling to Flavin'.
A new album coming out soon, releasing a new single written by Noel Cassidy, My Town Ballinamuck. In about three weeks, that will be released via, iTunes Spotify, and will be on YouTube.
Patsy ran his own transport business, and a taxi, you might have seen it, he has my face on the side of it. he drives for local Mulleadys now also.
Nothing in life is handed to you, if you want it you have to work for it.
Elvis Presley, said once that Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine. a huge fan of Elvis, i even had a huge carper mural, that went from floor to selling, was very big, I had it all CD's DVDs, mugs posters and everything else.
I'm doing a slot on the radio with others on a Saturday the 15th, on Finn Valley Radio, 3-5 .
myself and other, chat sing and tell story's. my next couple of gigs I'm in Arva Brewery SAT night and Sunday, Lyons in Ardagh.
Local Group 'Longford Spin' are a new group formed for the benefit of Longford. Local people who have come together to support local charities, boost tourism in town. Organised a night of Country Music with TR Dallas and Up and coming start David Kiernan local too.
Tena Keown & Lisa Daly
Longford natives, have Longford at the forefront of their new group 'Longford Spin'.
Its a new initiative Lisa tells me ''its all about Longford, giving Longford a positive spin. We want to bring more people into town, shopping, bring more markets, for wider community of traders, and the obvious benefit of all locals and county Longford in general.
Tena Keown, Longford local, and well known and cherished in the community a carer, by day, and carer of Longford throughout.
This lady, has done so much for the local community, not looking for anything or praise.
from fighting for all local causes, helping orgainsing various events, to now putting that under one umbrella, Longford Spin.
Father Seamus O'Leary (Ballymahon) , his parents was Pat O'Leary and Maryann (Cawley) O'Leary. my mother is Ann (Kinlon) O' Leary, and her parents was Charlie Kinlon from (Drumlish), Christina (Quinn) Kinlon (Templemichael /Water St Area)
Longford Spin was the idea of Lisa and Tena, whom both share chairpersons within the small as yet group, but with a few powerhouses locally Gerry Warnock and Joe Flaherty, committee members, and members Brian Mc Cann and Lisa Vernon, Lisa is the Secratary for Longford Spin.
A powerful group with wide ranging attributes.
Lisa met Tena, at another fundraiser, as you can imagine, for GOOD2TALK. They both got chatting and came up with idea of having a registered group for organising such events for various local issue. All volunteer driven, and any events orgainsed will be for benefit of local charity and various groups needs.
Lisa Daly, Longford Town, native Annally Park. was born in UK Manchester, Old Trafford, and yes she is a fan, which may i say i endorse such a club to support 'only the greatest club in the world 'Manchester United'.

I live in Annally Park now with my own family, Husband Tomas, and our beautiful kids.
Its a small world, and yes myself and Tena are also distant family cousins.
Tena spoke of a lovely lady from Annally Park,Lisa's gran, Mary Ann, whom like Lisa, was a very good talker, woe befall you if you dared to walk by and not call by. Bang bang on the window, come out and tell you off for not calling in as you went by for an auld chat. She was very well thought of fondly in Annally Park and beyond.
Lisa's work history is business management, office work, and management and pay roll and organising take ins.
Working various teams, from security, for Eur'Ace for Pat Duffy, Fusspots for Trisha Keenan. Up skilled from her first Job when she came to Ireland, she worked for Bettys Salon.
She is bringing all that skill and knowledge, to Longford Spin.
They both told me they have an event coming up this Friday coming the 7th of July, in the Longford Arms Hotel, with performing artists TR Dallas and David Kiernan, for Meals on Wheels. and on the 14th of August, they have another night planned with music from up and coming local country star Joe Reilly The Roadsider, proceeds going to Longford Attic and new club Forige.

They also are working on VAT Certificate, and registering nationally with CRO, after which they can apply for grants. They already have a great start with accountancy, Richmond Accountancy agency local Longford Town company have offered their services totally free.
Longford Spin, is looking to propose a weekly market, for Longford Town, they have a long list of traders on board already.
We see ourselves in a years time, being a group open to helping all. People can approach us with any ideas, and we will look to see what we can do to help. We work with all Councillor's regardless of party's they involved with. We are just so passionate about Longford. Lisa said her husband said to her, now you Have to do it, no more talking about it, now its up and running.
When myself and Tena got together and talked about it originally, the whole basis of it is all about helping Longford back to its feet, and get more people in town, for shopping and creating the atmosphere that used to be here, when i came back here first back in 1998. We are just helpers, and orgainsers, people can freely chat to us, and we will help in any way we can.
