Bumped into James (Jock) McGrath St Mels Rd, where a lot of things are happening, between the new center of excellence in St Mels College, and what is evident is the knocking of the old wall, from new car park and St Michaels boy school. Times change and modernisation, safety is key, where a new inside path undertaken by the Local Council, to safeguard children from school to car picks up from St Mel's Car Park. I think any help on this matter is very welcome, to protect children from rising car ownership and a well known narrow very busy road. Jock told me it's a welcome thing that's happening, no real sentimental value, remembers fondly hammering footballs on the wall when he was young, but traffic wouldn't allow that for any children these days. The road itself had been done only recently and strengthened thank to Pat Keenan, 2015/16. Football was a key part of Jocks growing up, couldn't play on St Mels College ground because of privacy, but after 3pm came, any local lads went to St Michaels, and plates footy til it was dark. On a side note, he told me that the lower half of the buildings and houses along that road are built from stone from an old British jail from Pearse Park, and that they were first built in the 1800's hundreds. Jock was also kind enough to share some images with me that you can see in the images uploaded.
